Why Houllier?
1. In 6 seasons at Liverpool his win percentage was 52% – better than any Villa Manager in the 20th (or 21st) century.
2. In 6 seasons in the Premier League his team finished 4th 3rd 2nd 5th 4th and 5th – the season before he took over Liverpool had finished 7th behind Villa.
3. Most importantly – his team beat Birmingham on penalties in the 2000 Worthington Cup Final and Trevor Francis cried. Priceless.

Frankly it doesn’t really matter who it is.
I wouldn’t mind Houllier but whoever it is we have to support them and not jump down their throat before anyone’s even announced.

The comment is quite right – give the new manager a chance. Support him whole heartedly. The idea this is blind faith is absurd. The idea of showing disgust at any appointment is daft. Would you do this in your own workplace? Of course not.
Houllier, Eriksson or Curbishley – great managers any of whom will take our team on the next level. O’Neill performed wonders and when the trophies arrive we should acknowledge his important contribution.
Houllier has a long career where he has a demonstable record of success. If he gets involved (perhaps overseeing McDonald’s progress) that would be welcome
