An eventful morning with various rumours flying around
Curbsihley – Obviously following from yesterday’s stories, all of a sudden according to the press he will be it, no chance !!
Houllier – ‘TheTrees’ on VT has indicated that he thinks it could be Houllier as early as this afternoon due to Randy’s flight plans. Villa_insider on twitter backed this up by saying
This place is buzzing this morning. I’m thinking something’s going to happen today.
his is NOT confirmed and just the rumour flying around the office. I’m NOT saying it’s definite. Houllier.
‘TheTrees’ just said
Apologies to the PMers, I have been out all morning and just got back.
I never have any idea who is on board a certain aircraft, I can only make assumptions based upon its movements.
There was a strange one this morning that involved a quick turn around that suggested that it might be collecting someone. As its last foreign arrival was from a different point, I surmised that it wasn’t collecting its owner.
For me all things point to Houllier and, as I couldn’t get odds on Jacques Santini Wink that is where I put my money.
If you take me as a tipster, please bear in mind that I had a pile of money on MON to be the next Liverpool manager, so I am not exactly an accomplished gambler
McLeish – rumoured to have failed out with the Blues board and ‘chrisnichollstoe’ on VT said
Im not an ITK, but was told two weeks ago about interest in Mcleish. My brother plays golf with somebody who was once connected to villa in a big way (thats all im saying!).
I put it down to bollox, but it is concievable that Mcleish himself may be holding out for Villa to come knocking?
As for what the general says, i think his morals are great, but this is the real world, and in Football, morals go out of the window, or you just fall behind.
In dark corners I have heard his name as well
Kevin MacDonald Graham Taylor backed him for a senior role
Lets face it this names hardly lighten up my day, a pretty poor list !!
Aston Villa News 24/7
still holding out for moyes NO CHANCE
McLeish would do a great job for Villa, and I think Houllier would do well in a kind of DofF role with KM being head coach in the way Graham Taylor outlined in the Express today.
I feel very depressed again all of a sudden
I’d be happy with McLeish. He has an eye for talent, and I think he knows we can attract better players. He’s been going after top players for Birmingham (or what would be top players) in Insomnia and Babel, Dembele (though failed in all 3) he still was looking at younger quality. If given the chance, I think he’s smart enough to know he can step the player searching 2 knots and find top quality for Villa.
mate dissapointed that ma uncle bought me a season ticket what a fucking waste of money aint a happy villain
Why feel depressed m8. Who cares who the manger is. Because we are villa till I die. I’m villa till I die. Mangers come and go but fans will always stay. Trust me.
“There has been talk of the recently installed Fulham boss Mark Hughes moving to Villa Park and the former Manchester City man is a whopping 25/1 with us at Coral. That is not all because the hotly tipped Martin Jol is also at 25/1 as is the Dutchman Ronald Koeman.
If they don’t take your fancy how about the betting odds of 11/4 for Alan Curbishley, 4/1 Gerard Houllier, 5/1 for Sven or 10/1 for the current Everton boss David Moyes?”
I wouldn’t mind any of those. Curbishley is alright, would be my last pick of the names mentioned.
Let’s hope there is an out of nowhere, van der vaartesque appointment. Hitzfeld anyone?
Houllier will make my day if it’s true. Backed him at 16/1 and put more money on at 14/1 and not just cause of that i think he’s a good manager.
For once, Graham Taylor has said something worthwhile! KevMac should be an integral part of the new set-up but as head coach – not manager, imho. Let’s hope Randy’s got a few surprises up his sleeve because the shortlisted names flying around – Curbishley, Sven, Houllier – don’t excite me very much!
Houllier is awful. Negative boring football, and can’t sign a player to save his life (look at his track record).
I will lose faith completely if this is true. McLeish is a safer bet but of course he will cost compo so he isn’t coming.
According to ESPN, contrary to reports, Curbishley has been contaced but NOT been interviewed:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=819919&sec=england&cc=5901
Please please not Houllier! Boring negative footy. He signed, Baros on the back of a few good world cup games! And we all know how good he was!
I am struggling to get excited at all by any of the names linked.
Just makes me more depressed that we lost MON
Houllier is a tosser
ESPN Soccernet are reporting that Sven was interviewed in London earlier this week.I think he’d be a great choice.
Sven would be good? Right, mediocrity with Manchester City makes him good enough for Villa.
To be fair though mediocrity with Man City was when the arabs cash wasn’t there to splash around but i here you and to be honest he wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of my list but c’mon would you really rather a twat like Curbishley or an inexperienced manager like Ronald McDonald. We all know the people we’d like but i’m a realist and i think Mr Moyes or Mr Jol will not be coming to Villa Park anytime soon.
I wouldnt be happy with Sven but i’d take him any day of Llewellyn Charles Curbishley
No, the Arab money wasn’t there. We don’t have Arab money either.
Sven had a better win percentage at Man City than that weasel of an Irish fella who was our last manager and a win percentage of 52.29% over his whole career i think his record speaks for itself a very very good football manager. I’d rather have Sven as manager with no money to spend than Curbishley any day of the week.
I think Sven did quite well at Man City. Ok they stepped off the gas towards the end of the season, but he did push some young players through. At least he is an ambitious manager.
