OK you know I am a big MON fan and always will be but he has gone so you would hope he would be replaced by someone better. After all those who called for MON to leave way before he did often claimed if he did we would be bowled over in the list of so called quality managers beating a path to Randy’s door ?
Well these names are just some linked heavily the past 2/3 days from various sources and ignores Moyes as the noises for him seems to have disappeared. All the people listed in the title of this post and frankly all of them bar one have failed in recent jobs, all but one has not been sacked from their last job and you are only as good as your recent record.
Does that mean the best of this bunch is McLeish, was anyone really wanting him after he suffered 4 derby defeats on a row, did he strike you then as a manager to replace MON ?
Maybe the list is so poor that Randy can announce his real first choice of KM (rumoured) and we all go
PHEEWWWWWW !!!!
at least it is none of them.
From the beginning of the week when you could believe we may get quality like David Moyes to Thursday and you are grateful for KM, then the PR from Villa has been stunning
Depressed by it tonight.
Aston Villa News 24/7
ian – i can remember a lot of underwhelming signings from Houllier at Liverpool.
But then I look at the trophies and wonder if he really did a bad job at all! In fact, trophy wise, it’s pretty damn good!
yep but in one season wasn’t they, a bit of a fluke ?
in the end the Plop fan wanted him gone
For heavens sake please will the webmaster of this site please shut this Blog down. I cannot for the life of me as a Villa fan understand why this site and another obvious site always have negative articles against our club.
NO
Easy solution, don’t read it. If you want to live in fluffy lovely land, may I suggest the official site avfc.co.uk, where everything is sweetness and light.
To be fair, Baros is banging them in for Galatasary now. Carew wasn’t doing much at Lyon, so Houllier thought it was worth a shot I guess.
Must admit the only manager of interest 2me is Koeman, because he hasnt got the premiership experience, hes got the european experience and is more likely to attract players of a higher caliber to the club, unlike someone of curbishley’s small stature, who lets face it Villa are more likely to employ, and all he will attract are players of mediocrity or worse. Things can only get worse if we show no ambition by signing a manager of a tiny reputation, my prediction of end of season finish under curbishley maximum 12th!
Looks like we might be finding out for ourselves how good a manager Houllier is!!!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1308543/Gerard-Houllier-lands-job-Aston-Villa-Ex-Liverpool-boss-set-sensational-return-England.html
yep Danny, makes TOTAL sense doesn’t it
however do we really want a flood of cheaper foreign signings, he never nutured the youth at Liverpool
If MacDonald is still around I’m sure he’ll get Houllier to nurture the youth.
BOys believe me or not i sead yesterday gerard hulier was gonna be r new bos on twitter and hell be announced in the next 2-3 days and km wont porbably be goin back to reserves
“however do we really want a flood of cheaper foreign signings, he never nutured the youth at Liverpool”
Gerrard, Carragher, Owen, Danny Murphy… Hardly Wenger-esq!
Do you have a realistic alternative that is better? Don’t get me wrong, I’d prefer Moyes, Jol, maybe Hughes….
But MON left us snookered, and i think this is the best of the alleged shortlist by a mile!
So right Wurzel. I wonder what the reaction will be at the first home game should the managerial app disappoint …
Could be worst. MON’s name could be on the list!
lol, come on. Heskey was like, 21 when he joined Pool. So was everyone else when he bought them
Why Houllier?
1. In 6 seasons at Liverpool his win percentage was 52% – better than any Villa Manager in the 20th (or 21st) century.
2. In 6 seasons in the Premier League his team finished 4th 3rd 2nd 5th 4th and 5th – the season before he took over Liverpool had finished 7th behind Villa.
3. Most importantly – his team beat Birmingham on penalties in the 2000 Worthington Cup Final and Trevor Francis cried. Priceless.
ha ha love the last point Paul, will make that a front page !!
Why not Sven? He did a good enough job at city. I think he would sign better players and would have more of an English bias than houllier. I think houllier would completely change the club, and I hate the thought of us having a lot of second rate Frenchmen.
Has sven been ruled out? I guess he would also ask for ridiculous money.
making Francis cry is a deal breaker for me get him in! Lol…. In all seriousness Houllier and Koemen r prob the best on that list. I personally would love a shock and it be Hitzfield but cant see it really!
houlier is proven and if we do get him ,think we will do well under him.still think we will end up with curbs
