The Mirror has the Curbishley news that Dave Woodhall posted as per my previous post but they follow it up with the news Randy has held interviews in London.
US businessman Lerner spent three days holed up at a London hotel with Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner interviewing candidates.
However ‘TheTrees’ on VT did claim he had flown in from Corsica a claim I believe
They go to London because it is a big bowl and the largehotels are uite used to holding secret meetings away the photographers and journos.
Also easy for people from abroad to fly into !

Aston Villa News 24/7
None of the out-of work managers inspire me.
I think it is fair to say that if KM was appointed he would improve with experience.
Well at the minute under KM, we are averaging 2 points a game; which if we kept that up would total 76 points and 3rd in the league.
I’ll send back my villa strip if it’s Curbs.this is Randy’s first appointment he’s intentions for Villa will be crystal clear. He needs to get it right or there could a backlash from fans.
I dont know who is or who isnt being considered but i do hope that they will look and interview anyone who has expressed a desire to manage villa.I think that would, make sense to most, but i do take with a pinch of salt what comes out of the press, If we were to believe them good old bob bradley would already be in
latest rumour coming out of the Villa Park offices is …. Houllier. At 6pm last night he was 14/1 but by 9pm I couldn’t get another bet on him.
The more I think about his history with junior/youth football, his connections with sophisticated French coaching methods, his intelligence, his success at Liverpool, which was curtailed by a heart-attack, the more I think he would be a great choice.
He fills the criteria of Premier League experience, and not currently managing another club plus he’s had great success in Cup competions bothe domestic and European.
Plus – he speaks English well, has a great sense of humour and “a twinkle in his eye”.
Dudley Villan, please be serious. We had two homegames and one away. Point average of 2 pts are nice, but was reached against weaker teams who are laying at the bottom of current table.
Give me the points of last campaign and 6th place, I would be more than satisfied, with 2 nice Wembley trips.
Last campaign?
Well we could not beat West Ham in 2 attempts and we’ve already managed it in one.
And had two goes at Everton last season without a win, already beat them first attempt too.
but looking at the table, we’ve not really done anything special although the points are welcome.
18 Everton
19 Stoke
20 West Ham
Whilst Newcastle have scored 1 and conceeded 4 goals in their other two matches.
BTW … just got 6/1 on Houllier and his odds have now gone down to 3/1 with some bookmakers.
Paul that is true.
I was just pointing out that I’d prefer KM to most of the out of work lot that are applying for the vacancy.
I think he has had a decent start under extremely difficult circumstances. He has given himself a platform of 2 wins, he is a Villa man and he can only improve with experience.
Though I too would not mind Houllier
Dudley Villan, finally we can find an approval. I don´t fancy Houllier too. Fear, we could get a French legion of players like Wenger does at Arsenal. Don´t prefer that.
joty, I’m curious as to how you turn Dudley Villan’s statement “Though I too would not mind Houllier” into “I don’t fancy Houllier too”.
I read it that Dudley Villan would be OK with Houllier although he’s not his/her first choice.
or we could get a english legion of players like sidwel :/
Think the best thing I’ve read online is that Taylor doesn’t like our scouting system, that we can’t continue bringing in British squad players, we need to broaden our scouting system world wide.
guys why are they only interviewing in london isnt it harder to peaple to acces londen than birmingham which is why they were gonna build wembley in brum
According to reports, we inquired about Djalo along with Newcastle, Everton and multiple German clubs the last day of the window. His price tag should drop in January to about 5m so that could be a good deal. This is from Tribalfootball though so take it with precaution.
Paul, you read me right.
We aren’t going to get Hughes or Moyes.
So my first choice would be the only up and coming young manager in the Premier League.
If we don’t go for him I would like to give KM a go but I would be just as happy to give Houllier a chance.
Also read that Andrew but saw it here http://www.eatsleepsport.com/aston-villa/villa-chase-portuguese-international-1093724.html
He was linked heavily with Spurs in early August but move never materialized in the end. Striker who can operate as winger, opposite of what we doing with Ashley Young
Dim Darren Lewis putting his finger in the air again….
Is this the guy that had to be corrected in his understanding of Villa’s financial situation… the way he “understood” it was Villa had not money to spend and Lerner was on the way out… a rumour sprung from his own brain….
Well done Darren Lewis… why does the paper let him continually print tripe.
Or could this be Oliver “I love Liverpool” Holts work?
Agbonlahor and Heskey are both Strikers that can operate as wingers. I’d prefer a true out and out striker.
I would respectfully suggest that if my Granny went and stood on the wing it would not make her a winger.
Gabby runs up and down the line and then loses the ball near the corner flag.
Heskey runs up and down the wing and then falls-over near the corner flag. I also think that using the term “striker” in connection with Heskey is stretching the definition of “striker”.
England have not had a left-winger for years (we tried to get Ryan Giggs but he played for his Dad’s country) so they aren’t that easy to find (apart from my and Geoff Boycott’s Grannies)**
** – if you don’t follow cricket you might not understand that reference. See any Geoff Boycott commentary and search for “my Granny is a better batsman than that, my Mom could have caught that” etc).
Regardless who is appointed, I will back them. I think of the mentioned few there is some interesting possibilities. Alan Curbishley could be an interesting choice as he does have a history of improving teams, I think Villa might be an interesting option for him as his previous clubs(no disrespect to West Ham), were ones who had absolutely little money to spend, and I’m sure Villa will at least give him some money to spend.
People have to remember previous managers that have taken over that have produced over the odds. To expect Villa to parade Moyes, Hughes or anyone already in a job would possibly be too much to expect…I am not a fan of this board, but we need to get fresh faces in(management) and allow them to use there technical skills to build a team. My view on KM is….great coach….better in that role at the moment.
I also think more importantly our scouting system needs rebuilding as the previous regime seem set on only british players(when has any british home nations done any good in a competition recently), we need to be more confident buying european players than MON was.
Is no-one else intrigued that Moyes has not refuted these rumours. They’ve been very strong for days now and I’m surprised he has not said they are rubbish to placate the Everton fans who are concerned…….
from 2 days ago ….
Moyes, meanwhile, insists he is more than happy at Goodison Park where he has been for the last eight years and has no designs on succeeding O’Neill at Villa Park.
‘I am loyal to Everton, I’ve always said that,’ the Scot told talkSPORT. ‘It is a really good club and this year we have a really good team and we have a good chance of doing well.’
