The last bargain player we signed solely to prop up the squad was Salifou…that didn’t exactly work out. However, I guess that was during the non-rotation era of MON. So maybe he is worth a punt. It is reported that some other clubs are looking at him, which is a positive sign.
As for Sidwell, we should cut our losses while we still can (if possible). I have not given up on NRC though.
With Milner gone, I hope we hang on to Sidwell at least until Delph is fit again.
Ireland has to settle in and Petrov needs to be subbed in games to benefit his own performances. Also I think you might see us play with 3 centre midfielders in tougher away games.
Admittedly, Sidwell is not the highest quality in a 4-4-2 but he can be called on to function in a 4-5-1 and as a squad member he never moans and always gives his best

He’s a really solid ball boy. Quick reactions and good vision. Sometimes seen playing CM too
Joking aside he’s not a bad player but as noted above works best in a 5 man midfield. I think we paid 5M for him so 2 is pretty fair.

Sidwell’s average. He’s Premier League talented just not good enough for a European Competing team. He’s good at passing and likes to take those long shots. He’ll bring experience to the West Bromich midfield and will hold possession so you don’t get killed 6-0 until we meet you.
Yeah he would fit in well for your team. I wouldn’t say he isn’t talented enough for a european challenging team. Simply put, it hasn’t worked out for him at Villa. Hopefully for you, he can recapture his Reading form and give you a hope at survival. Looking at your team, if you play 4-5-1, then he can probably work well with Dorrans and Mulumbu. Dorrans is better though in my opinion.
P.S. Odemwingie for 2M is a good bit of business for your team.
Yeah, might be able to take over where Brunt played in the last game, as he really isn’t a holding midfielder – then we could be free to shove Brunt further up field.
