After Milner’s great performance on Saturday I really expected loads of stuff on Milner in the past 24 hours but actually I think we have noticed just how quiet it has become.
Now please do not shoot me
but ‘GaztonVilla’ on VT has just said
Latest, but this is a couple of hours old:
Meeting today between Ireland’s reps and ManCity did not go well, neither side willing to budge. Can’t confirm if rumours of Ireland being relegated to train with ManCity youths are true or not.
In my opinion, and that of my source, this has just swung back towards “no deal”. I expect a Villa source to come out and say that Milner will be selected on Thursday in an attempt to force City’s hand. I have a feeling that if nothing is done by this time tomorrow, Milner remains a Villa player until January.
‘MYSTERYMAN’ confirmed he had heard the same and Milner will be picked on Thursday
EDIT – ‘GAztonvilla’ just posted (21:30)
The fee structure is agreed between the two club.
Stephen Ireland + £16.5m cash, in one payment, no installments. This could, potentially, rise to £19m dependant on a number of factors (International appearances, Man City qualifying for CL, Man City winning a trophy etc.)
Villa are NOT entertaining any proposal for a cash-only transfer.
The stumbling block remains, as it has for almost a week now, Man City’s refusal to subsidise Ireland’s wages to make up the shortfall between what Villa are offering and what he is currently earning. The total shortfall, over the life of the contract, is £3million. THREE MILLION POUNDS. Man City agreed to pay £2m, but have since reneged on the agreement and are attempting to strongarm the player into accepting £1.5million in three installments. Another meeting today between Ireland and ManCity did not go well and no resolution is in sight.
On the BBC 606 this has been posted by ‘rotterdamspectator’
See previous posts by myself on this.
The same source of information who said It was looking like it was not going to happen has now informed me James Milner has decided to stay at Aston Villa and review his contract.
Randy Learner has started proceedings against Man City !
And previous such behaviours have lead to transfer bans!
I hope this is true!

Usual warning about BS applies
EDIT- Checked H&V and this lot
Dave Woodhall
No contact from City today and he’ll be on the plane to Vienna.

Not going to read anything in this but i think Milner is going to stay…..
villa man in the know Brendan M? (writes for ? and ) has just told me (facebook chat) that he has had news just a few hours ago of a major turning point at villa.
i asked him what and he refused to tell me so i tried reverse questions…and sorry but…
he refused to say if it was anything about Milner
he refused to say if it was anything about new signings
all he did say was it had nothing to do with MON (i asked if it was) who he is friends with.
it will be in his paper once he has full confirmation from the club oh and Randy “was” away in Italy (read in that what you will)
Yep could be utter rubbish, could be two attention seekers as some of you think but how great would it be if this was true, wouldn’t we all love this to be true. Some fans through pure speculation are thinking that maybe there was a major problem between Milner and MON stemming from MON’s comments about Milner indicating he wanted to go, the ‘friend of Milner’s’ was very quick to point out this was not true.
If you look at how Milner reacted on Saturday, the City fans thought it was a goodbye on repeat showings and watching exactly what Petrov said, could it be the reaction of someone resigned to go and not wanting to go ?
Also if you was Milner would you not ask if I was wanted so much why don’t they just pay off Ireland ?
He is an intelligent bloke surely he must sure he is wanted and loved far more at Villa, than City will ever.
EDIT 22:45 – The Guardian are now running the basic same story as above, they claim Milner given them 24 hours.
Key quote as I said above, they can not want Milner that badly to rage it out like this
Milner’s frustration lies with City rather than Villa and he has started to question just how badly the club want to sign him because of the delay in pushing the deal through.
Aston Villa News 24/7
not sure we did know that, people speculated MON was the problem. Back a few weeks ago when MON claimed MIlner wanted to leave , I believe MON, the stuff coming oout the past few days does tend to think he was the problem not Lerner.
However it is not clear why MON became like this, was it because of what Lerner was doing ?
If we believe MON was the issue, why would he want to push Milner out, was he the only player to generate funds but Lerner did not want to sell him as per his utterances when the season ended ?
If this is the case and Milner is much happier, pull the plug on the deal.
Maybe that is the message from what Lerner said, remeber City can resolve this with just paying Ireland now.
There’s no reason for MON to publically announce that Milner wanted to leave; apart from manipulating the fans emotions against first the player and then the chairman.
From day one we all saw a nasty streak starting with his treatment of Cahill and Davis.
Someone has suggested he timed his resignation (while Lerner was in USA, days before the season started, and with Villa on the verge of losing the best player) to cause the utmost damage to the club and so turn the fans against the chairman.
He’s gone:
