Good News in a difficult week – Ireland – medical/Milner, New website, Lichaj

Well finally it is good to type about some good news this week !

Website

Have to say I am very impressed with the new look, they have took elements from the much acclaimed Man city one but downsized it as the City one I find it overbearing. Well done to all involve in produced a much better look.

Ireland/Milner

The latest from ‘gaztonvilla’ on VT

Latest:

“Suspension” lifted, talks have resumed. Medical planned for today or tomorrow. I don’t know if it’s happened yet today.
Milner transfer is ready to go, just requires paperwork. All other elements are complete at AV end, requiring only Man City to formalise their agreement with Ireland.

Not sure if it will happen before the weekend but, as I said in another thread, we have something they want badly, so it’s not in their interest to drag it out. But with Man City you just never know.

Will be finally happy to get this out of the way and welcome Ireland warmly but hold reservations if the new manager has not been involved will that have a negative impact ?

Also as if we needed confirmation but Ireland not in Man Citys Europa League squad

‘coops_avfc just said

He’s having his medical now, apparently. No link, just a source. Apologies if been mentioned already.

Lichaj

Great news that Eric Lichaj has signed a new three year contract as I reported here. For me he is a very bright star in the academy and hopefully will get a chanc under whatever manager turns up

Ashley Young

Should be in the England but is not and that is great news as far as I am concerned !! For the West Ham game we need as many players as possible to fit and on form

  1. Really dissapointed with the new website. There is so much going on you don’t know what to look at, there is no central point of focus, it’s stretched over multiple monitor lengths and its just far too busy. Very poor effort.

  2. I think any new manager would be delighted if Ireland is already an Aston Villa player when he is appointed.

There are enough ‘football people’ at the club to sanction this move.

In fact given the gap left by milner, a new manager is more likely to be disappointed if the current decision makers missed this one-off chance to sign a player of Ireland’s quality.

  3. Young’s going into talks with Lerner when he gets back from International duty to see what Lerner’s plans are. Hopefully Lerner makes good with Young with Spurs lying in wait. At least with O’Neill gone Lerner wouldn’t waste Young by swapping with players like Jenas.

  4. website is very poor some links happen when you hover over them others need a double click, images dont display (and I have a fast connection) loads of pages dont work as expected ie News(nothing happened). most content requires membership so not accessible. Navigation through site is very bad. Obviously no user testing and if it was my site I would demand a refund

  5. Indeed DV, it would be daft to let the signing of Ireland slip by. Besides we do have a very capable caretaker in place, it’s a no brainer to sanction the Ireland part of the deal.

Not read the link yet but Heskey to Sunderland is great news! But with Carew injured we’re struggling up front, time to play the nippers! Unknown quantity for the WHU defence!
