Well I never expected this from the Mirror but they are saying that Liverpool want Stillyan Petrov as replacement for Mascherano.
The cost is rumoured to be £7m and story is by Alan Nixon (Nicko) who some say has decent contacts. Of all the links I have seen this has got to the wildest of them all.

Two years ago when the ball came to him on the halfway line, Stylian O’Petrov would try to slow it down, look around him and then get closed down and dispossessed; and Villa fans would boo him.
Now when the ball comes to him on the halfway line, he tries to slow it down, looks around him, gets closed down does a trick and passes it all the way back to Friedel; and gets a round of applause. Quality!

What’s with you guys and Petrov? He had a very good season, even with Parker in my opinion. He had one of the top passing rates and I believe the 2nd most successful tackle rates just below Mascherano. He’s the player that truly helped Milner in the middle. Petrov has been a great player, no he doesn’t score, but who can’t score in the SPL?
