McGeady not starting for Celtic – is he Villa bound – SSN says so, BBC says back injury

Whilst it is not clear that playing in tonight’s CL qualifier against Braga would make McGeady ineligible for Villa in the Europa Cup he has been left out of the starting line up tonight. He has travelled but not even named as sub so he will be off, Spartak got to be favourites you would think.

Johnjohn2 on VT has posted

Lots of rumours rom the Celtic fans that McGeady is going to Villa for 8mp + Heskey.

but not seen anything on their forums

Would add of course he has travelled, not injured but not playing and just which other team is in Portugal tonight ?

Jackso55 says on VT

Just heard on Sky sports news via the commentator on the Celtic vs Braga update that Mcgeady has been left out of the squad for the tonights game, with very strong rumours coming out that he is about to sign for villa in the next few days. I AM NOT ITK, Just passing on the info that I heard, it was at about 9.05pm.

  1. personally i think mcgeady would be more suited to a championship team rather than premiership i think it will be too big a step for him

  2. McGeady needs to move for his own career, he’s stagnating in Scotland and it would be the best move allround McGeady needs to move to develop, Celtic need the money and despite him being our best player we can survive without him with the money gained from the transfer fee. For those who haven’t seen much of him He’s pacey has incredible feet, you Villa fans are goin to have a treat watching his worldclass dribbling skills. However a word of warning, he doesn’t have much of an end product- he often made poor decisions and Strachan hated working with him. Villa is the best move for Aiden as MON will work with him, and i can see him developing into a class player in the prem at a decent price with O’Neill who is a little genius, i’d prefer him to become the best he can be and that would be with Villa as opposed to Moscow.
All the best to you guys if you get him.

  3. McGeady is not a £8m player. He will struggle to make your bench after half a season and will be bumped on for half that in Jan. He is also renowned for being a miserable bugger and causing unrest with other players.

    Fail Fail

    Gaun the Braga

  4. SSN have said McGeady was out with a back injury but interesting to see comments from both sides. Seems like it will happen n £8m donkey

    I’ll take that

  5. and yet a few minutes ago claiming he was on his way, journo’s eh ??

  6. Lol @sell him to bigger English Clubs… Yeah. Bigger. Uhm, like who? United, Liverpool, Arsenal? That’s about the only clubs “bigger”.

    • i think you will find in this day and age there are a few more clubs than those that can say they are bigger than us and back it up

  7. Watched him many a time and you can have him for 8 mill. You thought maloney was a waste, go on MON you need that bench warming me ol pal and hes the man to do it.

  8. i hope he does sighn but i dont think its going to happen in the next few days

  9. McGeady wont be going to Villa. He is going to Spurs in swap deal for Robbie Keane.

As Spurs are in the CL thats why he didnt play last night.

  10. i hope mcgeady comes i think his class nd this will push young upfront behind our striker or strikers
