Two nationals the Daily Mail and Guardian are running stories that Aiden McGeady is shortly going to be signing for Villa.
OK so it is going to be a signing that splits the Villa support for sure and will be interesting to see how he goes but a poster on this site called ‘Dichio’ has said in another thread
I’m expecting to see mcgeady unveiled at the kit launch tomorrow due to a rumour floating around bodymoor which was passed to me from a member of the groundstaffs daughter earlier today
Which of course means today as the kit launch is in Birmingham at lunch time !
We shall see if Dichio is right but it feels like the first signing is close.

Not the worst signing. I just hope for an attacking Central Midfielder so that Downing doesn’t move. I’m no Downing fan, wouldn’t be hurt if he was benched at all.

Given the two previous players we’ve signed from Celtic, i’m not sure if McGeady will be worth the £10m that is being mooted, especially as that would probably be a sufficient enough bid to bring Ireland from City. However, if the deal does go through McGeady will have my full backing, and I hope to be eating humble pie come the end of the season.
As someone who’s watched Celtic a lot this rumour doesn’t fill me with confidence for the season ahead. McGeady is fairly lightweight even in the SPL, and he hasn’t learnt that less is more yet. As for him coming in today, sounds like utter baloney!
McGeady’s signature will be done n dusted today …. I wouldn’t worry too much about his supposed lightweight size … he’s not as small as Luka Modric and he doesn’t do a bad job at Spurs.
O’Neill’s plan is to sell Milner… we’ll get £12M and our pick of Ireland / Santa Cruz / SWP / Onouha. He wanted Joe Hart as part of the deal but Mancini blocked it.
Downing, who keeps getting a mention on this forum – will be switched from the wing to a more Central role.
Finally my mole tells me O’Neill wants new keeper and will let Friedel go to.
I haven’t got a problem with Downing but I don’t know why we keep buying wide players and sticking them in the middle. OK, it seemed to work when with Milner in the middle but he did a cracking job out wide. It took Downing a while to get going for us but toward the end of last season he was doing a great job out wide. Why don’t we just buy some quality central midfielders so we are able to actually keep possession for a change. Why don’t we buy some attacking midfield options that give us another dimension, a playmaker with a bit of flair. But why we are supposedly looking at a crap winger (McGeady)for 10 million just baffles me. I hope it’s just paper talk. He’s only worth about 2mil and the only reason we’d need him is if milner or young were on the way out. Even then he wouldn’t fill either of their shoes. I agree with sam, the last two signings from celtic have been shite. Maloney couldn’t cut it and Petrov (although i must give him his dues, always gives 110%)maybe our captain but for a while I’ve thought he was our weak link.

I’m disappointed to hear such negativity about McGeady’s probable arrival. He will be a good signing for us. He can play in the middle aswell as on the wing. Personally i’d like to see him bulk up a bit but you can’t have everything. Maybe coming to the Premier Lge will wake him up in that department. He needs to b stronger in the taclke b’cos it will be harder to keep hold of the ball in close in our Lge. It will depend on what he will cost…8mil is a lot but prices being what they are, he could prove to be another O’Neill masterstroke….
I wanted to talk about the unveiling of our new kit today. I saw that The MANURE got a mention on SkyNews about their new kit and when i asked @SkyJacquie why Villa couldn’t get a mention she said they cover The MANURE b’cos they sell more shirts than we do. What the hell has that gotta do with anything?? I replied to her by saying we don’t sell as many shirts as THE MANURE but at least we’re not over a billion in debt. I asked her what kind of advert are Utd for the game especially after the Pompey debacle…I didn’t get a reply, as of yet i’m waiting…

If McGeady is worth £10 million then Liam Lawrence must be worth at least £15 million! Oh wait a minute!!
If McGeady does come, obviously he will have my full support assuming he always gives 100%.
However my faith in MON will be further eroded if the fee is any more than £3 million.
I quite agree ricardo. Like I said, he’s worth a couple of million and that’s it. Although i’m not an admirer of McGeady I would go as far as to say he’d be an alright squad player and we can always do with the extra depth I suppose.
Talking about that;
Do you know who I’d loved to have seen come in this transfer window to strengthen the squad? Martin Petrov and Benjani have both left Man City on free transfers and I thought they’d make tidy additions to the squad. Anyone agree? Why doesn’t MON ever get any crafty free transfers in?

i know that. i’d have liked to have seen MON go in for him though.
My apologies all the signing of mcgeady is still at negotiating stage with him and not concluded before the launch although it was delayed a short amount of time according to my source

While I agree that might have been harsh, he was pointless the whole season. I know he just came back from injury but that was a time Albrighton could have played with a switch up of Downing. Or Reo-Coker could have played centrally, Milner out right and give Downing a game every other game to bring him back into the game.
All right bhoys just to give you all a wee heads up on mcgeady he will not cut the mustard in england not evan than championship nevermind the premeirship but we up here are hoping king martin will do us a favour n give us 10million for him tbh he is not evan worth 5 just now he did play the best hes ever played under king martin (when us and mcgeady used to be good) he is very lazy cant tackle cant cross a ball and cant score goals thats me just being honest but i do respect the boy for what he has done for us because he got the ablity to beat players for fun n has done so for us but lets face it our league is not as good as yours . hope you all have e brilliant season and win the league as yours are my english team just because of king martin and i canny stant that mankey dirty bluenose fuckpigs birmingham there manager is a wank and there hole team are shit i just put 100 kwid on in william hill for them to get relegated
