The new Villa Kit, looks good

From ‘soccerbible‘ who I must admit I have never heard of before

It is very similar to Stewart’s mock up he did and well done to him

got to say looks fine to me similar to the Le Coq sportif one we had in the early 80′s

  1. thanks Richard, mucho gracias !!

  2. the actual website has better photos that prove this is genuine

  3. I know 123 but we should drive hits to them they broke it first, fair web etiquitte :-)

    • actually ian, soccerbible is just prodirectsoccer.com’s “blog”. they had the nike creatives ahead of time, as all the retailers will have, and it’s bad manners on their part releasing them before the official launch.

they’ve got their watermark on them, i have no issue using them without attribution.

  4. I must say, I’m not that impressed. Really liked the look of the mock up similar to the championship winning side. A little disappointed.

  5. that mock up by Stewart was really special but that is the problem when you go wit ha large company you have to make the best of their templates. Some of Nike’s kits this season are truly horrific with zig zags all over the place !

would have been nice to have the 1980-1 shirt replicated 30 years on.

  6. It’s rubbish, looks like the hummel shirts of a few seasons ago, dark times…

  7. Ambivalent.

I thought when we signed up with Nike we might get a few innovative developments in this area – haven’t seen anything of the sort to date!

  8. Tony, Nike are a corp giant they do templates and the likes of Arsenal who sell far more have far more influence on tweaking them than we do.

I think the kit looks fine if not good, but understand why some may hate the checks.

However check out the other Nike kits this year and the vast majority are awful except for Man U’ds and Arse’s retros and we do not have the sales clout to change that.

  9. Truly dissappointing. We have great colours in a simple yet powerful combination. Why oh why must we spoil it with gimmicky additions like a checkerboard siding. And the checkerboard pattern on the socks is farcical. Sorry NIKE but you, and who-ever the decision makers at the club are, have let us down. You’ve saved me some money though as this, like the Hummell chevrons of past seasons, will not be added to my collection. I think what makes it worse is that there were some great mock ups doing the rounds this year and I had high expectations.

  10. Not feeling it. The pics on the official site from the kit unveiling make the shirts look pretty rubbish.

  11. Personally I saw it and thought it was abit of a let down, and I just felt sorry for brad friedel having to wear something that does not represent his professional status. But with the exclusion of the goalkeeper kit I can actually see them growing on me, it’s like an attempt to make up for the kit of a few years ago.

  12. Doesn’t really do it for me, I’m afraid. Demonstrates a lack of creativity, a bit like our recent game plans! I have always been expecting more from Nike since they expect us to fork out 50 quid per kit per season. Away shirt looks more like a Manure away shirt with the FX Poo logo in red as well – why not have it in white or Villa’s sky blue? Money saved I guess. Bring back Umbro!

  14. don’t like it and won’t be buying.
In fact the more I look at this top the worse it becomes.
Looks like I’ll have to buy another retro top
