Paul Scharner was a Martin O’Neill type player but he couldn’t hold down a place in the WIGAN team last yr. I think that shoukld tell O’Neill all he needs to know about him…He’s not the tyoe of player we need right now and i personally don’t wanna see him in a Villa jersey….

not to sure about huntelaar he hasn’ really done much whereever he has gone since he was in holland and no doubt he will cost a fair bit. i think keane would be less of a risk though, and when you don’t have much money to splash about its probably the way you go. Scharner wouldn’t be a bad choice as backup for petrov. it’s not the most exciting signing though.
How about when he scored 8 goals in 13 starts for Real Madrid? I would call that having “done much.”
Huntelaar has a good goals scored to games played ratio despite limited opportunities in Madrid and Milan. Do we want to risk what would be at least £12m on him though when £8m would more than likely get Robbie Keane who would add goals PLUS guile to our attack and is proven in the Premier…..
With the caveat that Keane will be 30 and Huntelaar 27 when season starts…
I have spoke to numerous spurs fans and they have been telling me how poor keane has been hence why they loaned him out to celtic (who are signing joe ledley – an average championship player) which shows you the standard of the spl where keane scored something like 13 goals. Problem is why is O’Neil going to pay 15 million on a striker who is a reserve at one of our rivals?! Huntelaar again is another player who has failed to find form and hasnt impressed many as they first made out! Huntelaar would be the better signing as he is still yet to i feel reach his prime. Buying a good quality striker at the correct price who will fit into our system is a tough one but i would defo be going with someone abroad like a pablo angel who will guarentee us goals and slot into the team well!
I hope it isn’t a Pablo Angel type or goals will be few and far between. Disagree about Keane but I see your reasoning.
Rob, Spurs fans were distraught at him being sold to Liverpool and Plop messed him up, there is great talent there if we are prepared to have open minds.
For example he does not rely on pace so age is not a problem and he has to be played as a deep lying forward

Well jury is defo still out on keane if he proves he can do it then yeah …but the fact is that we are trying to sign somebody who is 5th choice at our rival for 15 million it doesnt add up..perhaps maybe say 6/7 but defo not 15…look at west ham who just signed piqqiuonne for 1m which is a bargain!
Don’t worry… It won’t be 15m. Paper Talk. He’ll be about 6m +2m add ons for appearances and whatnot. Redknapp wants him out so Bellamy can be signed.
And don’t worry that he’s 4th* choice. He’s Spurs best striker, he dipped in form and he got back into it. Even a dip in form he’ll score more than Gabby.
