SPECULATION : Milner final bid and contract talks postponed

The Mirror (of course) have a story that Villa have postponed any possible contract talks with Milner. This story of course is something Mysteryman hinted at, no stated, on yesterday’s Milner thread, did the Mirror pick up on that.

However they state Man City will make one final bid for Milner worth £23m plus adds on and if this is true we can tell them where to get off very quickly.

You have to say that you ddo get the feeling that this is finally drawing to a conclusion, I personally can not see Milner ever pulling on Claret and Blue again.

EDIT: Daily Star report that Ireland and Ohnura plus cash for Milner which is a very obvious link

  1. Well… We’ll miss him but thank heavens it’s about to be over. Though 23m + Add ons isn’t a good thing I don’t believe. Especially if it’s based on appearances, which I don’t think he’s going to get too many.

  2. My first instincts are to tell Man city to piss off at that money.

I can only see Milner getting better, hence his value will increase.
But this time next year, he’ll only have a year left to run on his contract.

There’s a difference between Villa postponing talks and Mysteryman saying Milner just won’t talk, but at the end of the day it amounts to the same thing.

    This is the line that has done it for me;

“Milner is away abroad on holiday but is willing to return to the UK at short notice should Villa accept a bid from City.”

If that’s the case, he can just do one.
    At any money.

  3. I don’t see us selling him for only 23 million. If he is sold, and it appears that he will be, it will be for well more than Lescott’s price.

  4. Absolutely Texas. The Lescott price is a guideline and it will have to be surpassed by some distance, no doubt about it.

  5. OMG, whats wrong with you people? Dont believe every single thing thats said in the press. They’ve been goin on and on since the season ended and villa rejected man city’s bid. They just wont believe man city can’t get anyone and thus write a whole load of imaginary stuff like this guy said this blah blah. Milner has not said anything nor has he done anything to deserve the stick you are dishing out. Dont be soo naive.

  6. So, Daily Star says 15 million + Ireland and Onuoha. I would much prefer that to 23 million and no one. But these swap deals, though they make for fun tabloid fodder, rarely come off.

  7. I’ve just read that O’Neill wants £15m plus Nedum Onouha and Stephen Ireland, and will hold out until Man City offer that. I do rate Milner but don’t want anyone at the club who is yearning for a move elsewhere. That would be a good deal for me.

It’s quite obvious that Barry has spoken to him in South Africa and, as is the way with every 21st century footballer, money has spoken. Ireland will fill his shoes for me, and for us to get both him and a highly-rated full-back plus some cash is a good deal.

I’m curious to see where exactly Mancini intends to play him. Man City are now bursting at the seems with midfielders and I can’t see many being too happy after 6-12 months of rotation. The egos in that team are unreal, and can you see Barry or Yaya Toure happily being dropped?

  8. I thin kthe idea is that Milner plays in front of two holding midfielders which is the latest vogue

    so you have

    Toure De jong

    Milner

    Silva Tevez Johnson

would work but also Milner is the one who is liable to be moved anywhere and possibly dropped for other systems.

What happens if they get CL, will they go all out for a world star attacking player ?

his choice, his problem, just get the money

  9. milner is not bigger than villa and ireland could well turn out to be a better player anyway.so richards or onouha plus ireland could see villa happy and man city with egg on there faces.villa forever

  10. I think I prefer keeping Milner and getting Ireland for 9m… Milner back out Right and Downing relegated to the bench where that average player should be.
