After today’s disaster performance against Algeria it is clear that Fabio Capello needs to make drastic changes for the nest ultimate MUST WIN game against Slovenia.

We as Villa fans know how magnificent Milner was last season, he won all the Villa awards going plus the PFA young player of the year. He was by common consent from most neutrals one of the most impressive players last season and on form players simply HAVE to be picked for England.
Milner we know gives his all for the cause, he would never let you down and hi quality in picking out players in good positions and having a very good cross would be perfect for the team.
No way should Milner be on the sidelines next game, he is better on form last season than at least 6 players that played this season and that is what all the other decent teams would do.

The team obviously is lacking talent and really needs more quality from wide areas. Did we even cross a ball from wide earlier? I think that playing Milner on the right could work, after all he has played there for Villa. It baffles me why England have never played him in his club position. Play Gerrard off Rooney who, despite his outburst to camera after the game which was wrong imo (fans who spend a fortune to go out to SA to then spend a load on tickets to be treated to shit have every right to boo after a game should they wish), is our best striker. Though saying that it raises the question- Does playing the best ‘players’ give you the best team. I mean Jimmy Greaves was Englands best striker by far in 1966 yet was dropped for Hurst. So, maybe dropping Rooney and going Crouch and Defoe would work and, after a couple of lacklustre performances, give Wayne the kick up the backside he needs? oh, and drop one of Lampard/Gerrard too as it’s clear that once again a manager is trying to shoe-horn the pair in.
I’d go for this against Slovenia–

Why? Two strikers who are used to playing together. A balanced midfield with players who know how to play in those positions. And I think Rooney needs a kick up the arse after two awful performances and his outburst shows arrogance, frankly. Great teams do not consist of the the best, but most complimentary players.
And I realise I’ve contradicted myself regards Rooney. I’ve had a few. But as I wrote about playing Rooney with Gerrard I realised how bad Wayne has been in the two games so far. All this clamouring for a change from 4-4-2 is the same furrow when Ajax won the CL under Van Gaal. Everyone said 4-4-2 was dead. Bollocks. It’s about having the players to play the system and making it work. 4-4-2 is fine, if you have round pegs in round holes.

Stop the presses. Villa fans believe Milner HAS to play against Slovenia. What about his performance against the USA? If he plays, it will be in a wide role. Most Villa fans think he’s average at best out wide, so where is the logic in calling for Milner to play out wide for England?
I think Milner is a good player, and to select him might be the right decision. But to say he HAS to play as if he is the saviour of England is just silly. Had he played tonight he would have made no difference. The team played with a fear of failiure, and he would have been no different.
The problem with Milner v the US was he was not match fit. Anyone who has had a virus will know that it takes a good week to get anywhere near your energy levels back. And also people are saying to play Milner in a position he has played in at club level. Not on the left. It’s all about bringing BALANCE to the team.

He HAS to play because our midfield has been abysmal there is absolutely no drive about it and no one seems bothered to do any closing down. MIlner would up the intensity, add quality with final ball on the wings and unlike our other wingers can cross with both feet.

Why, oh why, oh why are people still suggesting that Lampard should play? He’s been awful in both games this tournament, was awful throughout the last World Cup and IMO has never been anywhere near the standard of performance that he puts in for Chelsea whilst playing for England. The guy is a great Premiership player and that’s where it ends. I’d drop him, lennon (who, is dog shit) and play both Milner and Cole (who for some reason is over looked in favour of both Lennon and SWP). Capello, I thought was a man who would only play form players and drop players if not playing well enough. And finally, last night’s game was the worst England game I’ve seen! Desperate!!!
