Ok so it may be the Brummie nature to whine and moan and sometimes we miss the bigger picture and we should think ourselves very lucky indeed.
Yes the season ticket prices have gone up but with the top price at only £550 and the bottom price at just £350 then this represents very good value for a team now a consistent top 6 team and not far away from the champion’s league placings. Now it can and I would argue this that the prices are still too low if we wish to compete and support a large wage bill.
When we look at our fellow contenders for the places we are on the same level as Man City and Everton but clearly all other teams are charging far more and this is reflected in their turnovers and thus subsequent wage bills.
Then there is Liverpool and this Daily Mail article shows how much their fans are being ripped off for a team and squad poorer than ours. So think about this
Holte Upper is £480 and Holte Lower is £450 which for me in the lower is just £23 a game.
The scousers are being asked for the Kop is a massive £732 (£680 if renewed online) at a massive £28 per game.
So in these hard times if you are debating about whether to renew or not, whether you get good ‘entertainment’ value please note the prices others charge and the little amount we charge and go for it.
After all what else is there to do on a weekend when a game is on
Aston Villa News 24/7
That’s the thing though it seems like Aston Villa are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they put ST prices up then fans moan yet the fans moan when we dont sign the high profile players.
At the end of the day we the fans have to pay for those high profile players so either put up or shut up.
When Lerner took over I predicted that season tickets would rise dramatically. They have gone up and the season ticket holder incentives are restricted to just the lower price per game and retaining your seat.
But the price has risen much less than I’d anticipated given the investment in the team. As you point out the ST prices represent excellent value.
I struggle to find the money each season but always scrape it up some how, I think of it as a bill.
As Ian says put up or shut up – RENEW!
no one who has the cash (and that is a different issue) can complain about the cost, even those in the BNorth Lower are still paying under £20 per game
and we will get cheap games next season and yet those who mona about the price may not go, work that out.
I totally agree Ian, I would definately be renewing, if in the country.. it’s excellent value for money.
