Transfer Speculation – Sidwell, Ireland and Milner

The News of the World are speculating that Steve Sidwell could be in for cut price move to Fulham if he reduces his current £50,000 a week.

I expect more of these kinds of stories as the summer goes on as it is clear amongst the squad we will some leave as already Bouma and Harewood have gone saving approx £60k and Sidwell was reported to be on £50k a week.

The second (fairy) story from the NOTW today is that Sunderland are looking at buying Stephen Ireland who is clearly on the sidelines at City but we could be interested in a possible swap deal if Milner goes to City.

This is going to be a long summer of nonsense

Please follow all the summer speculation here and will update every link I see from proper sources here

  1. Dear Sir, Th problems that Villa have had this last few years is that the manager plays the same team almost every game whilst the brilliant young players are not given a chance. By revolving the team around it will bring more competition to the club. Both Agbonlahor and Ashley Young have been vastly over rated by the manager, Hesky can not score goals and Carew plays half hearted in many games. If a central strike force can not score fifty goals between them, change the strike force next season. Also tell the defenders to stay on their feet instead of making wild long distance tackles which often gives away penalties. I think a new manager is called for next season because the present boss is too fixed in his approach. We need to revolve the players so that they do not get so jaded. Agbonlahor could become a great striker if only he used his brains, such as when on a one to one with the goalkeeper, he slows up a fraction and changes direction slightly before striking the ball. He also needs to visualise where the ball is going to land in advance of a corner or free kick, then sprint into a space. Ashley Young is too predictable so that defences now know that he always hangs on to the ball too long instead of doing an instant delivery like Beckam. It is so simple to improve a football team by getting the complete side to run off the ball and play on the floor. Watch how many players pass a ball and then stand still. Watch how many forwards also stand still instead of revolving across the penalty box from wing to wing. Best of luck.
