VILLA through to FA Youth Cup final against Chelsea

Fantastic Villa performance tonight at St James Park to beat the Geordies 1-0 in front of 4300 fans to meet Chelsea in a two legged final

A goal on the 34th minute from Connor Taylor sealed victory against a much older and bigger side and remember Villa are without inspirational captain Gary Gardner and defender turned forward Halfuid.

Villa in defence performed magnificently and even though Newcastle were down to 10 men after 80 minutes they never stopped trying and came up against a determined and resolute defence superbly led by Dereck Williams.

Given this group was not rated as highly as the same one Albrighton et. al came through this shows what a magnificent job Tony McAndrew and Gordon Cowans re doing with these kids and future has to be bright with these two in charge.

MAGNIFICENT is the only word for this.

EDIT

Bet this Newcastle website editor is happy

first line from last week

The expected Toon v Chelsea Youth Cup final moved a step closer yesterday, as Newcastle secured a semi-final tie with Aston Villa.
