You have to say that the atmosphere from Villa fans was magnificent today, especially after half time there was a 20 minute wall of noise from the Villa end. Did anyone hear the Chelsea fans apart from the goals ? In fact after the game you would not believe which team had won and which team had lost, did their fans really care, a much as us, nah, FA Cup means nothing to them.
That is the worse bit of it like with the league cup final !
But my anger is totally reserved for Howard Webb. For most of the match we were more than a match and until they scored they like us did not have a shot on target but Webb was truly dreadful today and I rate him.
1) Just how could he not give the penalty on Gabby, it defied as much belief as Phil Dowd’s refusal to send off Vidic, MON’s reaction on the touch line said it all
2) THIS tackle on James Milner, Martin O’Neil is right to be fuming at this. However this masked
3) The ref allowed play to go on after this horror tackle and Deco for the second time (first was booked) took down Petrov who was bursting clear, should have been sent off. Chelsea knew this they subbed him straightaway afterwards.
So Chelsea got through because from a lucky shot the ball happened to fall straight at Drogba’s feet and that sums our recent weeks, it is all about fractions of luck and of course a ref who knows his job and not afraid to give the decisions against the so called ‘big’ clubs

we were singing pretty well from 67 minutes onwards but you probably didn’t hear much of that as your end of the stadium was almost empty after 80 minutes. Once you went one nil down it was clear that your players and fans alike knew you’d lost and acted accordingly

Should have been a pen, deco should have been off for persistent fouling, Drogba was falling around like he’d broke a nail and Terry…. only the big teams get the big decisions.

3-0 IS NOT a true reflection of an overwise spirited performance. Start of the second half, to the moment Drogba scored, we looked like scoring and the atmosphere was rocking.

I forone am very proud of the lads, the 0:3 scoreline does not reflect the game. The game was very close and a few bits of bad luck went against us and we lost. Bad luck includes decisions not going our way, the current rules of the game allow fot human error to constantly spoil things, but at the moment it is all “part of the game”.
What I do see though is the lack of a top quality finisher, Downing not really playing to his ability, Young not stepping up to the mark and a lack of depth in the squad to make changes. I am sure that these will be addressed.
We have MON and that makes me a lot happier about yesterday and the future of Aston Villa Football Club..

Thought howard webb was a disgrace to any fair minded football fan yesterday be they young or old,he should have given a clear cut penalty and dismissed terry with a straight red for his appauling tackle on milner., but he either totaly bottled it or he had put a few grand on chelsea to win the cup so decided to take no action for in doing so would hindered his own chances of collecting a nice little earner.Just like when dowd done exactly the same against MU vidic should have been gone no ifs or buts about itbut again he gave only the penalty.Not saying for one minute we would have won yesterday agaunst chelsea but their task would have been far more difficult because until they scored by a piece of good fortune we were certainly in contention.I for one am realy getting fed up with these blunders by either INCOMPETENT or CORRUPT officiald be they refs or linesmen. Last week when drogba scored against MU both drogba and another chelsea player were clearly 2 yards off side and even though the linesmanwas clearly in line with them hekept his flag down when even a blind person wouldhave waved for offside.Time for cameras to be installed wether that idiot blatter wants them or not in football because important decissions must be got right in the name of fair play and both top and bottom teams will at least not have to contest riduculas decissions that are given week in week out by CORRUPT or INCOMPETENT officials
I think that Webb saw the penalty but didn’t want to send a Chelsea player off so soon and remembering the controversy from the Utd game he probably thought he would get less flak by ignoring it rather than giving a pen and not sending the cheating scum off .But you might be right and they might be CORRUPT or INCOMPETENT officials after all Chelsea could and should have had 3 men sent off . p.s Lampard said Chelsea deserved their win .. Totally agree and dissapointed with wimpy referees
Having watched today’s match I can only say that I wish we had had that ref yesterday, he was an absolute joke. I never thought it was possible but he was worse than Howard Webb. He certainly favoured the underdogs. We’d have got our penalty, Terry would have been sent off and we’d be in the final.
I get tickets for the FA cup final every year, I had to sit in the Chelsea end last year and I was totally embarrassed to be amongst them, the fans are terrible and manage to suck the atmosphere out of any stadium, awful awful fans! Webb was a huge factor for the loss but equally we didn’t play well enough to really say we should have won it, we still lack quality up front and depth. It depressed me to see Ballack, Anelka (not so much Kalou) be brought on for Chelsea and then our swap of Heskey for Carew… never going to do anything!
