Semi Final Build Up – Why have we not sold out by now ?

The Official site has now announced that from tomorrow Season Ticket holders can now purchases 2 tickets extra per season ticket for the semi final. Along with with this there is an effective general sale of tickets to anyone with a booking history this season.

The rumour around is up to 5,000 Season ticket holders have not brought a semi ticket and over 5000 remain for sale.

I have got to say I do not understand that at all. Yes we were only down in London 4/5 weeks ago and yes it is an expensive business but surely the FA cup is our destiny, after 53 years of hurt we will win the bloody thing some time and why not now.

Yes so we lost to Chelsea 7-1 the other week but that has no baring on a one off cup game, why get so disheartened about it ? Surely you want to say you was there at Wembley when we got revenge for 2000 ?

Surely that is worth a £50-80 payout ?

However with the details announced today I can not imagine us not selling out now and maybe with fans being there for their only time then the atmosphere could be better ?

UPDATE – 15:00 – 07/04 – Rung up ticket office today to renew season ticket and asked about availability and was told 3500 left

  1. Well they won’t qualify for a Final ticket then old pal !!
Oh & ianrobo where may I ask did this rumour eminate from or is this more idle gossip ianrobo ??Last weeks Tuesday thread caused you headaches…
I heard that the FA released more tickets to both clubs
Do you really think that a 1/5th of our ST holders won’t take their allocation ? nah nor me ….get positive man !! your a right old whinger ….doom and gloom mr mainwaring …UTV

  2. me doom and gloom :-)

the rumour is just a post on a couple of forums who asked about how many left when buying other tickets

personal experience shows me out of 10 ST holders I know 3 are not going

It is obvious these tickets at a much lower price are having trouble being sold. The extra tickets were I think about 1000 Cat 1 tickets released from tickets that sponsors could not use.

  3. I remember The Villa in a sem-finali at mould trafford 1996 v liverplop a week after we beat Leedzz at Wembley and we hardly sold a ticket, mind you even the hubcap thieves never sold out either such was the extortionate prices, even way back then my ticket at mould trafford was about £40 !! The FA need a rough end of a pineapple being inserted for charging such ridiculous amounts. They never heard of recession..The Chel$ki ponces will sell out !! No recession for them Russian billionaires
There will be over 30000 of us idiots there anyway..and like the old villan says..the ST holders not taking their ticket just might render them out of a Final ticket .yeah U T V

  4. yep was OT and depressing to see so many empty seats

as for ST holders and final I think there are enough tickets for every Full time ST holder to get one anyway

  5. Not sure of that dude.
I seem to recall we have about 27000 ST Holders, give or take a few hundred, we won’t get that many for the Pompey Cup Final !!
Is it 21000 ,the allocation for the Final. ?
Oh & it was depressing at Mouldtrafford with Robbie (I love playing The Villa) Fowler scoring a few.
His addiction to scoring against us is a bit like Fat Franks.
Oh doom and gloom spreads lol UTV

  6. we get 25,000 for the final, by the time the players, club staff and corporates are skimmed off we will be left with 23,500 – 24,000 on sale

out of those 27k ST holders that includes the half year guys and the figures could be upto 2000

so there may be a 1000 discrepancy and difficult as well because first dibs will go to those who have been to all FA cup games at home and the semi, which includes me but none of the guys I go with !!

lets get there first then worry !!

  7. I think these people are stupid, what if we win? History has shown that teams after heavy defeats either win or come very close the next time around.

We’re wounded, I’d rather we head into the game with a point to prove then having lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge and not blinking an eye. The best preparation has been made and I hate fair weather fans who decide as and when they turn up.

I’m a season ticket holder, I went to the final and I’m their on Saturday, and hopefully I’ll be there for the final also. Cost should mean nothing when it comes to supporting your team in a major final or semi final at Wembley.

    • And if u cant make it…

      • then I am sorry for you

my mate can not go either which is a bloody shame

but we still have sold out by now in my view

I really do believe it is the fact the semi’s are being played at Wembley that partly causes this, devalues the place for the final

  8. I was there for the 96 LC final and OT for the semi.

I’m working this weekend, but in truth wouldn’t want to go anyway.
Semis at Wembley do my head in, plus it’s a shithole anyway, especially when it comes to getting away.
Best bet is park on the borders of the foreign place that is London and get a train in imo.

I’ve another reason too, but I won’t go into that :-(

  9. Also if we do get less allocation then our STH, I’d suppose that half season ticket holders won’t get the priority that we FULL season ticket holders would get.

After all, we made the commitment having no clue if we’d be close to a major final.

  10. We will get there, and I’d like to think that if the cardboard cut outs who sit in the Witton Lane, The North Stand or whereever who sit there all quiet and prawn sandwich brigade who HAVE NOT taken their seat this Saturday allows a few of the younger “lets get at em club” who will get off their arses sing shout and do whatever is needed to get us to The Final,

  11. its partly the ticketing policy-from today its personal callers only to villa park. If you have a six game booking history or less then you have to get to Villa park. There are a lot of Villa fans who live around the country who wont be able to do that let alone Midland based fans who cant get off work

  12. agree Chris, seems very unfair to withdraw the phone, maybe people understand you have make time to pick them up but should be using telephone booking. I did see something earlier that they were going to allow those outside brimingham to phone but that has been withdrawn now

    • i have to say this is a farce. I live in london and was told yesterday that they would make an exception for me when i got my ticket yesterday. I suggested that they put something on the website which at the time was personal callers only. The customer service advisor said that her manager was not going to do that as there was no need. Now they have. It seems they dont know their arse from their elbow

  13. People outside Birmingham can still phone in

  14. Its a bloody disgrace Ian, simple as.

Not selling out for an F.A. Cup semi-final takes some believing. We like to think we’re loyal supporters, like hell we are.

There’s not too many premiership outfits who’d fail to sell out for such a game, sadly we are one of them.

  15. It could be the fact that our national stadium was so fucking badly organised for the leage cup final
    1. Unable to use the toilets at half time and there was hundred of people waiting for a piss who in the end had to do it empty beer bottles. We were told by the wembley staff if we did this we would be thrown out

    2. Had to walk up 15 flights of stairs because they couldn’t be arsed to operate the escalators

    3. 31,000 Villa were so separated in the stadium that the atmopshere was shite

But I wouldn’t miss this game and see the Villa boys rip in to J. Terry and his chelsea for the shite comments hes made – COME ON YOU VILLA

  16. Holte end steve, you are so right mate

small example of a farce of a stadium, went down just before HT for a pint, within 3 of the front of the queue, took 10 mins ot get served, farcical

but you go to be THERE

and to shove Terry’s comments right down his throat as you said

  17. I remember feeling like this in May 1982. Villa had just beaten Anderlecht in the semi-final of the European Cup and were pitted against Bayern Munich. Now, normally you can look at your foreign opponents in those days before global tv coverage and their team was just a bunch of strangers. Unfortunately, even I had heard of half of them and I rated our chances of winning against them as on a par with me getting to sh@g Samantha Fox (look her up kids!!)

My point being of course that even though a win on paper is highly unlikely, imaging NOT going and we pull off a famous victory against all the odds? Being able to say “I was there” means everything.

When Dennis went up, to lift the European Cup? I was there!!

  18. yep godzvilla, that is what football is about, we can beat chelsea, proved it once this season and if we do we are clear favourites (forget london loving spurs jounro’s) to win the whole thing

  19. I rated our chances of winning against them as on a par with me getting to sh@g Samantha Fox (look her up kids!!)

i understand Sam is a dyke

ill be at wembley 11 in our party

  20. I’m getting the coach down from Villa Park at 11 so should get down there for about 1:30.. the late kick off should add to the atmosphere.

I just hope the club Wembley isn’t full of Chelsea fans.
