Poor effort from Wolves fans

It is reported on Villa forums that Wolves even with a reduced allocation have failed to sell out their allocation and some reports indicate only 1800 ticket sold.

I do understand the tickets for away supporters at Villa Park is high (around £40) but this IS a traditional local derby (it can be argued the former incarnation of Wolves vs Villa is the oldest game we still play) and they are in a relegation scrap.

So if true this is a poor show from their fans and will mean a near capacity Villa Park will be totally focussed on pushing Villa forwards towards a vital win.

  1. wow.. even rapid vienna fans brought more over haha…

owell atleast we’ll have more fans packed in roaring the team on!..

gonna be an awesome day looking forward too it!

  2. I hope we charge smallheath alliance the same ! even then it’s still cheaper than the outrageous prices the scum charge us every year its about time the Villa woke up to a bit of tit for tat retaliation..I paid £38 to get into Molineux and over £40 for The Stye so well done Randy & Co…make em pay and walkl away empty pocketed and handed

  3. It’s only Thursday morning for Pete’s sake, and 1800 out of 2600 is very normal!
Our fans will show up in numbers and sheer our team as usual. Don’t you worry about that.

You should worry about Wolves stealing points from you in your struggle for that fourth spot instead. We have everything to win. You have everything to lose. Therefore you will probably lose everything.

  4. paddy…. you have a lot to lose, your status in the premier league for a start and also your dignatiy when the mighty villa slap five past you….. jog on!

    • Our status in the prem does not depend on the outcome of this match, Jammin. We will never let five in and you know it. We played a draw against you at home and could have nicked al three points towards the end. And we play much better now than in October.

If we manage to stop Milner from doing his job you lot will be newted. We managed that in October and can do it again. I smell a draw, though. One goal each.

And one more thing. Jarvis is better than Young! He is even younger than Young.

we sold out at least a week in advance for the custard bowl

  6. Paddy… I was in such a bad mood this morning at work at reading what you have just wrote has cheered me up no end! Especially that bit about Jarvis being better than Young!! You wanna lay off the wacky baccy! :) :)

  7. how is competing for a champions league spot a “struggle”?

  8. what are we “struggling” with?

  9. concentrate on your jobs lol

  10. Its laughable that competing for fourth is a struggle, in fact associating the mighty claret and blue with ‘struggling’ is hilarious! I mean, one cup final, ok we lost, and a semi-final wembley appearance to come and the prospect of 4th place finishing being entirely in our own hands, yeah, its a struggle being a villa fan! YYYYAAAAAAAWWWWNNNNNNN!!!! Enjoy the relegation battle!

    • You will have a struggle on Saturday, ben. And I’ve just proofed that Jody Craddock is a better player than your celebrated central defender James Collins. Just click on my name and you have it Old Gold on Black in stats.

Later I will prove that Jarvis is better than your celebrated winger Young on the blog and on Saturday the team will prove that they are a better side than you in battle.

      • Ok, well, interesting stats, can’t argue with them, and its a pity that one or two individuals don’t make a TEAM, lets look at just one interesting stat:

        Goal Difference:

        Aston Villa: +17
        Wolves: -24

Its just a pity your whole defensive outfit wasn’t made up of just one outstanding player!

  11. Anyway @Paddy

you mention being a better side than the bore draw at your gaff earlier in the season, have you checked the form guides??

    They read as follows:

In the Last 6 competitive games:

    Wolves: Played 6, Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 4
    Villa: Played 6, Won 4, Drawn 1, Lost 1

Wolves: Not won in last 4 outings!
Villa: 8 Home games since last loss!(Carling cup final doesn’t count, even though we where classed as the home team!!)

    • Well. High time for you to lose then, ben.

But seriously. in the long run you are the better team this season. I’ve got no doubt about that. But we still can beat you in a single game and a derby is a derby and everybody will fight like…Wolves in our team.

Maybe you win seven out of ten against us at Villa Park, but my hope is that the match on Saturday is one of the other three. We got a young and promising team that has learned a lot this season and they are much better as a team than when we met you last.

Anyway. It will be a very exiting game and we will soon know who will get the possibility to brag here and on my blog come Sunday. Hope you take that fourth spot, by the way. But not by taking three points from us, of course.

  12. Well, I am looking forward to the game too, and if all truth be known, I would hate to see Wolves go down, derby days are like nothing else!

I will be watching the game from the Brown Cow in Carrickfergus, the home of the Northern Ireland Lions Supporters Club, we occasionally see opposing fans join us for games, I hope some Wolves fans make it to the pub, would make for a good atmosphere!

  13. Anyway, on an even more serious note(god forbid!!) Paddy, what happened to Maierhofer? I thought, from the games I saw in the earlier parts of the season, you might have uncovered some genuine talent there?

    • Probably no talent or a very raw talent, ben. As you may know he is out on-loan to Bristol now and has created a row – or maybe somebody has on his behalf – by an interview – genuine or fake – where he complains about his treatment at Wolves.

Read all about it at Paddytheflea’s

      • I saw it, I thought it strange that he went out on loan after what looked like a good start to the season. The end of the season will tell, if he’s there or not, then you’ll know how genuine the comments where

  14. Majority of wolves fans will be in the holte end as it’s a lot cheaper!!

  15. I’m a Villa fan but I don’t blame them not paying the £43 prices.
I’ve been to 11 aways this season but missed both Man Utd and Blues away as i won’t pay £40 or over on principle.
It about time fans stuck together on this issue as opposed to asking for tit for tat prices.
£43 for a saturday lunch time kick on tv is disgusting.
