Before I get onto the main substance of this blog, lets just review today’s game.
For the first half that is possibly the best football I have seen from Villa, fluid, ball to feet and nary a long ball in sight, how it was just 1-0 god knows !!
For the second half we seem to be sat back, probably relaxing for the cup final but even then created chances. Probably for the that reason we let Palace back in, however we stepped up a gear, got two clear penalties and game over. The likes of Downing, Delph, Gabby and Young were very good. I also have to say Carew played his best for a long time despite what some are saying on the forums and remeber I am not his greatest fan !!
However after the game we learnt Man City had been dumped out of yet another cup competition and that is pure Karma for what Gareth Barry did do. He did leave for so called chance at glory and yet since he has left we have got better and better and the likes of Downing and Delph for the future look like offering far more than Barry did at Villa, at least Downing takes shots !!
In most cases the grass is never greener and now Barry is finding this out to his cost. Remember Gareth where you are now, one point above us and no chance of a trophy, look at us, one final, a quarter final and one point behind 4th. This is the best season since Brian Little’s of 1996 and he has missed out of it (whether we would have done as well with him is moot point) and I wonder what he is thinking tonight and when he speaks to ex colleagues ?

I agree with the ianrobbo, we know we have moved on but it gives you great pleasure when a player left your club thinking it was not good enough. I just hope we get forth and then Barry does not make the world cup squad. I would just love it (said in the tone of kevin kegan!)
i was in the north stand and a man next to me shouted out the latest score and a section of the stand sang cheer up gares th barry oh what can it be your a money grabbing basxxxx and you aint going to wembley and i said to my two kid that moment was priceless

i agree with faz, he never went there for glory. He went there purely for the money! Silverware would just be a plus. Theres obviously a part of him that will be hurting while watching Stan lift two trophys in year, but i will never believe he went there for success.
And faz, yeh that was great seeing him kissing the badge. Pity some people dont believe his sincerity…
About time Carew showed what he can do. He has been anonymous most of the season.

Carew hasn’t had many starts because Martin prefers the fat clumsy one , I cant be bothered looking for stats but i bet he has more goals than Heskey and half the playing time . He loves the Villa but doesn’t get the respect he deserves . Its about time some of you got off his back and started supporting a descent player .

if fact the fade out last season was in part due to him, we got rumbled by his lack of mobility and if he was so good, how come he is now sturggling at City ?

I think last season Carew was excellent but this season he hasn’t been great and it doesn’t matter about whether he’s started games or not, his main problem has been having the touch of a rapist and not working his arse off for the team.
He probably has scored more than Heskey but he’s there for the team and that’s what MON likes.
Heskey stumbles trips and looks confused while not scoring .. how does that help the team
Although I can’t help but smirk when I think of Barry now I don’t like the way he’s become a shit player in our eyes all of a sudden.
