This week the Times produced a list of the most consisent Premier League players based on a forumla. For some Villa fans the results may be surprising but for some of us we should not be shocked.
It can be said that statistics can show anything you want them to but Villa fans should be delighted to see Petrov and Milner at the top of the midfielder list and Gabby at the top of the forward list.
I get very frustrated by some of the things I read and hear in the Holte about our players. Where I stand Gabby gets sheds load of abuse and I often wonder if the guys slagging him off often watch the same game. Gabby gives his all for Villa and when he is out we miss him far more than we almost any player.
When we brought Milner I was shocked at how many fans thought he was overpriced. Search the tags under Milner and you will just see how much I did and clearly this season with 11 assists and 4 goals he is proving that £12m was a steal.
Then we come to Petrov. ever since he came to the club he never really convinced people but after last season when he won every player of the year award going I really believed that he had won people over. However almost as soon as the season started the moaning began about him, despite the fact he wins more tackles than most and very rarely gives the ball away.
However it seems to be our nature to under rate our own and moan and whinge but this season the proof is in the pudding and from now on we should not hear any moans at VP just 100% support for the team that MON picks.

If that list was in any way accurate, Richard Dunne and Carlos Cuellar would be top of the defenders…
The list is I think over a calender year and both of those were not good enough last season
Gareth Barry is in that list which is interesting at how poor he was for the 2nd half of last season
there probably top because they have played every minute of every game compared 2 others who rotate
Lampard plays most games, so does Gerrard when fit etc.
What it shows is that we have the players IMHO but lack that ‘special player’
it also shows for me how a large number of Villa fans miss out on what Petrov does for the team.
