Full credit to Crystal Palace the team and their fans

Not often will I watch a game and actually like what I see about the opposition. From my previous post despite Warnock’s bleating today I am a big fan of his, he tells it like it is and always sticks up for his players and club.

Clearly with the whole administration providing Warnock with the perfect motivational tool, the Palace team attacked with vigour, defended with determination and apart from the Alan Lee elbow. The entire Palace team played in the right spirit of the game.

There was also no little skill involved and for me Neil Danns was a revelation. When he was at Blues he showed nothing like the little flicks and skill we saw today and it was good to see a lower division play in the right team and try and take us on at our own level.

Palace deserved the replay and the extra money you will get but hopefully the result in 10 days time will see the Villains through to the quarter final.

Palace will always have a sweet spot in many Villa fan’s hearts for this one comment from the ex owner, Simon Jordan

I think they are disingenuous. The ethics with which they do business, I don’t appreciate. I have had enough dealings with them to be able to have that view. Am I surprised? They sell dildos for a living. That gives you a judgement on what they may or may not be.

I see other club’s chairmen as the enemy. I want to go in there and beat them up. Some of them like Sullivan I would like to do that to.

Finally a word for the fans, even though our fans were great, yours were a credit, with 100% support for the team and I like that fan area at the corner of the Holmesdale End. In these times sometimes it is easier not to be bothered with the team, you showed today how the right way is to support your team.

  1. Thanks for the positive comments
We deserved the replay and were lucky not to hold on to the win.
    The supporters were fantastic
See you all in a couple of weeks
    Its not over yet…………………………..

  2. it isn’t mate, we have some interesting team choices to be made now

not sure you deserved the win though, should have been down to ten and we had a clear pen denied.

    Draw fair result all around

  3. great cup tie we really played our hearts out gave villa a real scare looking forward to the replay you must be favourites but we will give it all as usual on and of the pitch.

  4. sure you will but it is different away and you are stuck up in the god’s a bit, presume you will take all 6000 tickets available ?

  5. cant wait to come up to villa park, great ground, good fans and youre old bill are always up for a laugh.
good luck for the rest of the season villa (apart from the replay), stuff them mancs and hope o’neill gets you further up the table..you deserve it.

  6. Come on you gave as a kit way back then please give us a maoney spinner MoM is a good bloke and We did nack the Wolves for you ;)

  7. You most certainly did not have a clear penalty, what game where you watching?

Ashley Young should have been sent off for constant diving, stupid Hertfordshire haggis face and Milner should have gone for his stupid tackle on Danns near the end where he could have broken Neil’s legs.

I was delighted when I saw Milner writhing around in agony on the floor after that tackle, I hoped he’d snapped both his shin in 3 places and would never play again, stupid big jawed Leeds wobber.

Anyway, that’ll teach you cocky dirty brummy bastards who thought you’d beat Palace easily before today’s game. Yeeeeaaaaah that’s right, I’ve read your forums, don’t try and deny it you filthy middle earth hobbits.

We’ll have you at Villa Park n’all. You and your stupid little jiggy leprechaun manager.

    All the best anyway, eh?

    Yours Faithfully.

    Tomo.

  8. Oh and by the way before I toddle off.

    Your fans were shit today.

Could have heard a pin drop in the away section until you scored your goals.

    Cheers.

    Tomo.

  9. Tomo,

that’s pretty funny. You did deserve the win for sure. But your going to make a load more money from the next game and if for some wierd reason you win which I don’t see happening then you have done alright . Your comment about us thinking we where going to win. Come on mate give us break cause we thought we where going win?

  10. Oh dear…..”Tomo” sounds more than a little bitter.
That or totally fucking brain dead

  11. a good game. draw probably right. TV showed Young was not touched and the ref got that right. Unlike Tomo I was pleased both players got up from that collision of a tackle. Look forward to replay after which I wish you luck in your cup final and hope you finish above Liverpool and Spurs

  12. Congratulations to Villa on already making the quarter finals.

  13. Tomo, I guess your still hurting over the noses who did you lot in fancy dress, so I understand your bitterness towards us Brummies but I still laugh at the thought of seeing a nun and the pope knocking bells of of your fans:0)

About the game, fair result but you had your chance and now its back to VP, if you care to make your opinions about us known (IF you attend) you will find out just how “friendly” the real club from Birmingham fans are!

  14. Last time we played you at Villa Park we got a 1-1 draw and should’ve won. I’ll be coming up for the game and I’m confident we can put on another good show! Will you be resting players due to the cup final??

  15. Great cup tie. It’s great to see the club that create us being the example of how to run a club with english players, youth, a british manager and playing good football.

I fear we need you to have an absolute stinker that night, but 20 years ago we went to Villa Park as far bigger iunderdogs in this competition and that worked out all right for us.

After we tookn 1,300 to Newcastle two weeks ago on a Wednesday, i can’t see why we won’t take plus of 4,000 up to Villa.

    Already looking forward to it!!!

  16. I don’t know how old “Tomy” is but let me assure Crystal Palace fans that I know of no Villa fan who thinks it will be a formality in the replay. It will be very, very tough and hopefully we will get through. Aston Villa F.C. always respect their opposition.

  17. I for one can’t wait for the replay, I don’t think it was a case of Villa playing badly yesterday, so I don’t see any reason why, if we up our game again, we can’t compete and make it a game as good as yesterdays! Always liked Villa, so I was quite glad to have drawn you in this round! Can’t wait!!

  18. Oh, and I hope no Villa fans judge us all by certain posts on here! I went to school…

  19. tomo is a funny man…

fair play to palace.. got their tactics spot on, and were unfortunate not to take the game…

linesman was shocking who awarded the corner, and a couple of offside decisions… the ones when delph was clear on goal, and the other when delfouneso was clearly 10 yards onside… absolutely shocking…

i wish ashley young wouldnt dive… he was in a good position, and he just wasted a good opportunity…

as for milner and danns, both went in full bloodied, which was great to see both full of passion and effort… dont think either was at fault, just a coming together…

overall, i think we used our get out of jail free card…
