I blogged back in November about the number of players we have on loan. So for this piece I conatcted fans at Lincoln, Plymouth and Blackpool for their views on the players I think that have a very bright future in pro football.
the forums I contacted were
The imps.tk
Vital Plymouth
Vital Blackpool
and as you can see below their comments have been very positive which is excellent for our and the players future. Also without question it has shown the quality of the youth we had that won the reserve league last season in that we have the likes of Albrighton, Clark, Delf all on the edge of the first team squad and real chances to go all the way. Then add in the likes of Weimann, Gary Gardner and Siegreist, bright future indeed !
Nathan Baker

I think if you asked most fans Baker is the best centre half seen at Lincoln for a long time, most fans love him.
In the week Sutton claims he was a new John Terry, one of our fans called Baker a waste of space and would be glad to see the back of him.
That just shows the difference in views round Lincoln. Me I’d go with Sutton.

Baker has won me over. I didn’t rate him when he started but he was playing left back and that isn’t his best position. Centre half through and through and can definitly see resemblence to John Terry. This guy loves defending, his distribution improved aswell, lifts his head and finds a pass, but can’t criticise him for ‘booting it’ safety first safety seocnd and all that.
Markus Naslund
Baker is a centre-half and NOT a left-back. He has the potential to become very good (possibly Prem) but will need time to iron out some of his rough edges. He can be a bit rash in his tackling at times, but given his age I think I can cut him some slack.
Chris Herd
Markus Naslund
Herd I think is excellent. Not sure he’s Premier League class but he’s way above us. I can see him being a very good CHampionship player. I noted in the interview I heard that his contract is up at Villa this summer.

Herd reminds me of Ainsworth in many ways the boy is pure class.

Herd impressed from the first game I saw him play in (Northwich Victoria). Lots of energy, outjumped everyone on the pitch and looked intelligent going forward. On the small side and maybe a little light. Would have excelled in the 1950′s as an inside forward.
Barry Bannan

Seen him a couple of times now and has really impressed me
Have to say i laughed the 1st time i saw him against Preston with his shirt tucked im and shorts pulled up but when he came on he made an immediate impacted and almost set up a goal.

Holloway has used him well by not starting him every game.
Looks busy on the ball, and certainly has some tricks, but keeps them to a minimum. Looks good going forward.
I think he’s out of contract at Villa at the end of the season, a extended loan until then here would suit both clubs and the player, then hopefully we can snap him up for a tribunal busting £75k ona 2yr 1 yr option deal

He’s a lively, tricky little ball player and the only reason I see for him not making it at Premiership level is the top division’s obsession with having just about every player at least 6′ tall, irrespective of ability. His movement is tremendous and he can put a ball into dangerous areas with accuracy and pace. His biggest attribute for me is that when he gets the ball you tend to move forward in your seat because he makes things happen. When we get him, Charlie Adam and David Vaughan playing one touch stuff it is a joy to watch. He may look like a ballboy but I hope we can sign him.

Would benefit from an extended stay imo. He’s got lots of ability but his decision making isn’t the best. That will come with games I think.
That sounds negative, but i do like him.
Shane Lowry
thepilgrimage
Promising player and you can’t fault his effort. Just needs to spend some more time in the gym to bulk up .

Lowry did really well for us, during his time with Argyle he was our best defender and formed a good partnership with Kari Arnason. It was a shame he had to go back to Villa and with him playing for Villa yesterday it seems remote that he will return to Argyle.
He’s not the biggest or tallest centre back but reads the game well and is a good tackler. If he can somehow find another two inches (!) in height and another yard of pace he will become a top class centre back.
Good luck to him.

Yes, he was very competent and relatively consistant CB. I personally think he needs to always play with a larger CB. Though he is good in the air there are many strikers about the same hieght as him which means he is sometimes beaten. I hope he has learned from the sending off he had when he was with us, it was stupid and perhaps showed his age.
Aston Villa News 24/7
Nice to read them comments. Personally I will be very unhappy if we let Bannan go at this stage; would much rather see him given another two year deal and sent out on loan again in order to progress him further.
does he have much chance at villa though ?
left sided midfielders we have , Downing, young, Delph and even Milner
personally I think we will say thanks at the end of this season but Blackpool may lose charlie Adam for a stupid clause in his contract of £500k, they could use some of that to buy Bannan plus add ons

Thats what ive been thinking. No doubt hes quality but look at whos ahead of him on the wings.
As im sure he can play on either wings, he has
-Downing
-Albrighton
-Young
-Milner(if he goes back to the wings)
..to compete with. Delphs more of CDM i think.
I hope we keep him and just send him out on a few more loans. We will really regret it if we let him go. Im positive of that!
Just let him wait for his chance. You never know, he might be good as a CAM or something so converting him to a new position may be an option too at some stage!
He will be a top player. Believe me!
I agree with your comment regarding Bannam. He has the potential to be a good player. But he has no future at Villa. We have too much talent ahead of him on the left-side.
aero, I firmly believe he has the passion, desire and ability to be a success but can not see space for him. Whereas Albrighton is for me the reserve winger and will get more chances.
