Sorry, obvious title, used many times the past few hours and totally sums up how I feel today.
We was robbed, to use an old saying, for 90 minutes, given the conditions and negative position of Liverpool I thought we did really well but the luck deserted us, none more so when Downing only had to be an inch wider to score. Then Torres who had done nothing all game, the defence had played well, took advantage of a Dunne slipped that fell perfectly to him to produce a world class finish that Gabby a few minutes earlier in the same position had failed to do.
What we have seen the past few days is the quality needed to challenge for the top 4, we can compete with the top sides but we just lack the final quality to seal the games and in tight games to take the few chances that are on offer.
At this point I will comment on John Carew, last night certainly around myself in the Lower Holte the love affair is over. I thought he had a very poor game (disagreed with mates in the pub afterwards !) and the effort is simply not there and nor is the first touch to control the ball. This is now a position we need to strengthen and if we get the right player in over the next 4 weeks there is no reason we can not finish top 4.
The last two games are a setback not a disaster for our ambitions. Some fans have now pressed the panic button far too early !

Aston Villa News 24/7
Villa do need some class in central midfield. Defensively you are SOUND as the pound (is that the case nowadays?) But you lack that creative edge in midfield, someone to release Gabby or Carew/Heskey down the channels. You guys will be challenging for a CL spot come end of season, and were unlucky last night, but you need a little bit of creative class in the side. You saw what $/GBP 30 million worth of class could do with one chance.
Liverpoo (Gerrard/Torres)l, Tottenham(Modric) & Man citeh (Tevez/Robinhio/Adebayor) have that world class player that Villa lack and that may cost you in the final run. Your team spirit is strong but it must be complimented by world class footballing skills also.
How quick Villa fans forget the Anfield game. Liverpool battered Villa for 30mins, then a debatable freekick and deflected shot…goal to Villa. Again Liverpool battered Villa and just before half time, dodgy corner ‘reina booked for complaining’…. Villa 2-0… Without going into second half…. Liverpool missed chances and that 3-1 win to Villa kickstarted your season…. excuse for Liverpool: missed chances !
Liverpool won with a late Torres goal, he took his chance…. stop complaining and be happy with the way your team is performing this season….
I say that makes it even !!!
Villa had only one days full rest while Liverpool had two full days rest. This makes it very hard to play games back to back. Still all is not lost. Villa is still in the title hunt. The title race will go down to the last week of the season. Chelsea can be had. The Blues will. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
can not disagree red, it is obvious what we lack but how can we get one without the lure of CL football and not paying silly money
i guess Bobby it is down to what happens in the window, buy no one and we have little chance, buy quality and who knows ?
