Revenge will be served cold on Saturday
Revenge is a dish served cold says many wise people and 10 months on from the disastrous game which turned our season we now have our chance to serve that dish.
Stoke will provide no surprises at all, we know what they bring to the game and their style of play will always cause teams many problems. However this is a different Villa side with much more resilience than back in February. The defence in particular is a totally different beast led by the buy of the season, Dunne, who is in superb form and the leader we lacked then with the absence of Martin Laursen. Dunne is not the type of player who lets 2 goals leads slip easy and I am very confident tomorrow we will see the continuation of the past few games.
It is no shock to me that Downing’s return to the team and fitness has seen an uplift in the team’s performances and style of play. This had led to short sharp passing, which when played to feet has suited Heskey and led to a more fluid style of play. Of course the star has been Milner and that is no surprise to me (future of the club) and his style of play as shown by the goal against Sunderland shows the guy is everything I thought he would be.
Villa Park will be an hostile place for the Stokies and on the back of the result at Old Trafford and Stadium of Light the team will be all out for the revenge and hopefully show the rest of the Premier League that unlike last season we are serious for the vital top 4 spot.

I couldn’t agree with you more regarding James Milner Ian.
Forgetting for one moment his superb second half strike at The Stadium Of Light the other evening, which virtually ended the game as a contest, Milly shone throughout the ninety plus minutes, always involved in the action, demonstrating to the partisan wearsiders who had come to taunt him because of his St James Park connections, the reasons why he is not only so highly rated by MON and his staff, and of course the Villa Park regulars, but by Fabio Cappello also.
Another superb display by James.
As for the meet up with The Stokies this weekend, here’s hoping that we exit the encounter with three more valuable points, which should set us up nicely for the visit to The Emirates, and the home game against the reds of merseyside.
Wont be easy again Tony Pulis’ outfit, far from it, but you’re right. We do owe them one, and hopefully we are in the mood to do just that, and exact ‘revenge’ for dropping four points to them in last seasons encounters.

Glen, it is clear the plan MON wanted to do and at the moment he appears correct, tomorrow will be THE test of the formation

Indeed. And we came through with flying colours Ian.
Not pretty, and certainly not a game that will live long in the memory, but we battled and scrapped throughout, every player giving his all, and ultimately defeated a Stoke City side that was always going to be a handful.
Three more very valuable points are now stored away, and we can look forward to the remaining Christmas games with plenty of confidence.

A repeat result/performance of last seasons visit to The Emirates (where let us recall, we have never been beaten) will make for a very merry Christmas indeed.
We are capable, we are on a roll, and we should be confident.
No longer should we be in awe of the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool. The MON/RL association has ensured that we can now compete on a level playing field with the so called ‘big four’.
