WEMBERLEEEE
Well We are just two matches away after a professional performance at Fratton Park where to be honest Portsmouth were under strength but for once we took our chances and created a fair few in the bargain.
The game started off at a frenetic pace with Portsmouth scoring in the first ten minutes from a defensive OG and mistake but Villa hitting back within a minute with a sublime finish from Emile Heskey.
For the rest of the first half we seemed to be taking it at a decent pace, created a few chances and Milner cracked in a fantastic finish with his left foot.
In the second half we comfortably defended Portsmouth pressure and a Downing goal on his full debut seemed to seal the game, However as usual with Villa it is never that easy is it and a Kanu goal put our nerves jangling until a cool Ash Young finish sealed it.
And now we are into our 15th League semi final the draw is tomorrow after the final two quarter finals and all I ask for is that we get the home leg second.
This is definitely a competition we can win and we need to and now it all goes on the luck of the draw.
