The term ‘bouncebackability’ was crowned by Arsene Wenger a few years ago and for the third time this season after very disappointing results this is exactly what we have to show.
The defeat at West Ham has been analysed to death in the Villa internet world and the same old arguments have been debated time and time again. What can be argued against this season is that attacking wise we have been missing that ‘something special’. Whether it is the lack of form by Ashley Young or Carew appearing not to be bothered this has to be addressed and very quickly.
We go into the game against Bolton tomorrow at Villa Park knowing that a defeat will result in very serious questions about the way MON has been handling resources at the club. I do not expect a defeat but we need to provide a performance over 90 minutes that we saw in the first half at Upton Park.
We know for certain that Petrov is out, it looks likely that Milner and Heskey will be missing so some interesting team choices. No one can second guess MON and it is futile to do so but I hope the midfield will be NRC, Sidwell and Delph with Young in a roaming role.
Tomorrow of course sees the return once again of a number of returning Villans and usually they do poorly at Villa Park, lets hope that continues and we see a performance we have seen against Bolton for the last couple of seasons . It will be good for certain to be back at home after four tough away games.
I also feel that Nathan Delfensuno will celebrate his new contract by playing some part tomorrow.
