A grand gesture by Randy to lay on the free coaches and his fellow American little Brad Guzan sent the travelling hordes home happy and Villa through to the quarter final of the Carling Cup with 4 penalty saves and one cracking one on one save.
The first half today was a non event with both teams cautious and Sunderland edging it. The second half continued along the same trend until the 85th minute when a harsh penalty against for handball was called against Cuellar. However a great penalty save from Brad Guzan who is fast becoming a master at saving them.
So we went to an unwanted extra side for both teams which went along the same pattern as the previous 90 minutes with little between the sides and once again Guzan came to our rescue with a one on one with Kieran Richardson. Frankly overall a very disappointing game once again after Wolves showing a certain lack of creativity in midfield but the defence playing very well with the game drifting into penalties.
The penalty shoot out was all about one man – GUZAN. Not only did he follow up on his penalty save from Jones and a fantastic one on one save with Richardson but an amazing 3 penalty saves in the shoot out. He is now a top quality keeper and Friedel has to stay on his current form to keep baby Brad out.
Now for a home draw in the quarters !
