No News (yet) and Berg update

Yep I said the Distin signing was imminent on Thursday and I still believe firmly from my sources that this is still the case.

In fact I understand within two weeks we could have as many as 4 new players including one ‘shock’ signing which no name seems to be apparent. I would love to say a name, I could say Van Der Vaart, or Wesley Sneijder but the truth is no one knows because Martin O’Neil keeps things so close to him.

However the signing of Yuri Zhirkov for Chelsea would indicate a certain England attacking midfielder may be surplus to requirements. Joe Cole whilst not yet fit is certainly a player who most of us would like at Villa on top of any players we do have and may get in.

However with 6 weeks till the season starts I have to say action from MON needs to start soon because even I will get itchy if by this time next week we have not got 3 players in out of the minimum 6 we need to stay competitive for the top 6.

Also further news on Marcus Berg in the Swedish newspaper “Expressen” his agent Martin Klette today confirmed that Villa has been in contact with them regarding Berg during the year, which indicates before the U-21 championship.

Also the Sun has reported that Groningen manager, Hans Nijland, has confirmed two teams have enquired, one belived to be Us ad guess who else, yep Spurs !

This rumour appears to have strong legs !!
