Comments and Debate on Aston Villa

James Milner, the future of Aston Villa

There was a time 3 years ago I believe that a young player came to Villa Park to sign to make a brilliant career and he left at the end of the day in tears when his dream move was spitefully stopped.
The player instead of moaning, instead of bitching, got his head down, made him a valuable member of the club that messed him up that when he eventually signed for Villa 2 years later at £12m I believe he has proved my views on him totally correct.

James Milner after the Under 21 championships is now the record holder by some distance with 46 caps and I believe many full caps to come to add to Villa’s growing record of capped England players. He was also the star of England’s team and even in a woeful performance by England stood out against a left back who was a regular Bundesliga player.

For some reasons a section of Villa players do not rate him as highly as myself and I just do not get them. When I see him play I see a 100% committed player, willing to play in any position and as his stats shows sets up a far amount of goals not only from set pieces but also from open play.

James Milner is a role model to all players, a tee totaller, a player who shuns the limelight, acts with the greatest of dignity and someone who with 11 GCSE’s has a certain level of intelligence not often found amongst his peers. His behaviour over his move from Newcastle shows how he did things correctly, a transfer request was put in secret, he then played a MOTM performance against Coventry and then moved to us. During this and despite Keegan never wanting to sell him, Keegan praised both Milner’s and the clubs dignity in the way we both acted.

James Milner for me will be the next Villa captain and a Villa legend that Gareth Barry can only dream on. He along with Ash Young is the basis of the Villa future and we all should be immensely proud he wanted to and choose to play for our club.
